"In 2017, Chief Kirkpatrick earned the Senior Officer Certification from the University of North Alabama and the North Alabama Police Chief's Association. In 2019, he achieved the Master Officer Certification. By 2022, Chief Kirkpatrick had completed the 40-hour Certificate of Achievement in Police Management, awarded by the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police and The University Partnership of Alabama. In 2024, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Winston County E911 Communications District and completed the 80-hour Certificate of Achievement in Police Management, also through the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police and The University Partnership of Alabama."
